Money Trivia ...Watch it..Part 2

India developed some of the world's earliest coins around 600BC? They were made using a flat irregular piece of silver of a standard weight. Then a series of punches were applied on the front portion that indicated when and where it was made. These punches covered a wide variety of symbols shown in the image.

Did you know, due to the shortage of metal during World War II, 36 Princely States, mostly in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Sind, Baluchistan and Central Provinces were forced to issue paper tokens instead of coins, some with the value of ‘One Pice’ or’ 1/192nd’ of a Rupee.
